The Camera With You 2012
I have taken photos with a phone for many years, at least since 2005–2006. This year was my first iPhone (4s) and I began using Instagram pretty quickly. It has become a pretty indispensible tool for my process — there are moments where it is used to capture a scene to come back and revisit, to document, and just to play around and see what comes up.
These are my favorites from 2012. Some are whimsical, some are serious, but I consider all of them as much a photograph as my studiously prepared and executed film work.

ps — I know there are detractors from the world of phone/device photography, but it reminds me of that XKCD comic where people are arguing of the purity of their field. And since I don’t know anyone who exclusively mixes their own silver halide, I think we all fit somewhere on the relative scale of “pure photography.”
